Remove Hard Drive Icons from Ubuntu Desktop




Often we get teased due to the hard drive partitions icons shown at the desktop of the ubuntu, Well i am posting a small trick on how to hide this,

Step 1:
Press Alt+F2 and a dialog box will appear like this:
Step 2:
Type gconf-editor into the box, Like this:
Step 3:
Press Run and A window will appear.Its Configuration Editor. Browse to apps > nautilus > desktop.

Step 4: 
"volumes_visible" will be ticked like this:

Untick "volumes_visible" and close the window.

Cheers, the drive icons would then disappear from the desktop. Remember that you can always access the drives from "Places".
